A Love for Giving Back

Mary Travis

Mary Travis

Mary Travis is the face and smile of the Earlene Howard Hospice Home in Springdale. It was during her husband Martin's last few days at the hospice home in 2010 that she witnessed the peaceful atmosphere and loving care of Circle of Life. She passionately wanted to find a way to give back for the care her husband received during his time at Circle of Life.

Since that time, Mary has generously given more than 4,500 hours of her time loving on patients, families and staff. Three days a week she warmly greets everyone who visits the hospice home with a smile. She also hand-addresses all donor thank-you letters and helps The Grief Center with monthly mailings. Once a week she sings in an evening choir for patients, families and loved ones. But, most importantly, she keeps the staff filled with delicious homemade desserts once a month and provides a special meal for the entire team during the holidays.

Mary gives unconditionally and is loved dearly by staff and her fellow volunteers. She is miraculous in her dedication to our organization and her love for giving of her time, talent and resources.

Mary says she feels blessed to volunteer with such dedicated people. "I thank God each and every day for all he has given me. I hope others will be inspired by my story and join me in supporting the future of Circle of Life so others may be blessed by their care."
